Sibinterneft Block 74 comprises some 3,500 sq km and borders the north side of Block 77, where Imperial’s Snezhnoye field is located.
Block 74
Fields: Golovnoye and Buranovskoye oil fields are located in the western part of block 74. The principal oil bearing reservoirs are the Upper Jurassic Vasyugan sandstones at a depth of 2,550 to 2,650 m. Imperial drilled an exploration well at Golovnoye in 2006 which was successfully tested in 2007. In 2008 the Ministry of Natural Resources has granted and registered a new production licence for the Golovnoye Field for the period until 10 July 2028. In 2007 Imperial drilled a well at Buranovskoye successfully identifying oil and testing of this well will continue in 2008.
Prospects: Uralovskaya, Letnaya and Trostnikovaya prospects are located in block 74. Three wells were drilled by the Soviets on the Uralovskaya prospect and discovered some traces of oil in Vasyugan reservoirs. Imperial has now drilled an exploration well on this prospect with principal targets being the Vasyugan and Tyumen reservoirs. Whilst no hydrocarbons were identified, this may be due to the crestal location of the new well as previously oil had been identified in this structure and at the present time the directors believe that no alteration is considered appropriate to the resources attributed to this prospect. The Letnaya and Trostnikovaya prospects have significant oil potential and remain to be explored.
