Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas visits Imperial Energy

Honourable Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr. Murli Deora visited the offices of Imperial Energy, a subsidiary of ONGC Videsh, in Tomsk, Siberia, on September 7,2009 . He was accompanied by Secretary MoPNG Mr. R S Pandey, CMD ONGC Mr. R S Sharma, and MD OVL Mr. R S Butola. Also present were Mr. Ammar Zaidi of PTI and Mr. Sanjay Dutta of The Times of India.

The Minister met the senior executives of Imperial Energy and reviewed the status of reserves and assets of the company, current performance and future plans. While expressing satisfaction over the performance and the efforts being made by the executives to achieve the targets, he encouraged them to work more proactively to increase the asset base by adding reserves through exploration work, increase production and control expenses. He also advised OVL to consider investment in more opportunities in this area, by participating in the licensing rounds and keep looking out for other similar companies which may be available for takeover.
The Honourable Minster later met Mr. Viktor Kress, the Governor of Tomsk Region, thanked him for the support that Tomsk Administration has been extending to Imperial Energy and requested for continuation of such support, subtly indicating that this company is owned by the Government of India.
